And both are impossible as you can't trade more than 1750 ectos at once...

Squishy had it right to begin with. Gold means nothing on the playing field.

I have found that the longer I play the less I care about the fancy stuff. 1 set of Obsidian a couple of elites and a few fancy weapons. After 38 months or something like that any new character gets 1k max armor and a bonus pack weapon if it suits. I might have 2 million in gold and a whole heap of materials and such but that's only cause I stopped buying everything just for a new look. Playing the game is so much more what it's all about these days and I'm having so much more fun for it.

Keep the trinkets to a minimum cause nobody else really cares

You can't put insignias on collectors armour and JR farms with the guild he is in.I only have 1 ecto to my name and I am not that rich unlike some here.I would never introduced ecto and shards to he game if it came to this.

lol, when you see people with stacks of armbraces, there's duping somewhere

maybe they're not dupers themselves, at least they traded with dupers...

it's not allowed to post names here, just go to kamadan (am dist 1) and you'll see them

I traded with dupers, anet let them keep the armbraces so I was more then willing to take them. Am I baed person now? If you think so, oh well.

"no life" has come up quite a bit. It's quite funny really. I had a lot of wealth, yet if I /age it comes up with just under 1400 hours. That really isn't a lot compared to some on here.

Why did I accumulate so much wealth if it doesn't make me a better player? Because it was fun. Some people like to quest, some like to complete the game on multiple chars. Gaming is about having fun after all. I don't enjoy repeating the game multiple times, so I didn't.

Myth buster time! Trading doesn't require huge amount of time. If you have money people come to you. Guru sell forums and auction area also cut down time spent standing around. It was quite easy for me to offload an 1mill item in under 5 minutes. All it takes is knowing the right people.

I'm pretty much penniless these days. Might have 20k in cash, and maybe another 100k in items if that. I didn't cry/rahe etc when I dumped all my gold/items, the fun is acquiring it and buying nice items to customize.

And right now is the time to get on the train to powersell. While ectos are rebounding (from what I hear) Time to get aboard and make your claim to that +16851698109801980e shield, that no one cares you bought. As for me. Back to failing in pvp =D

Actually, right now is the worst time to get on the train to powersell, the time to get on the train to powersell was in the past. Now it's harder then ever to start powerselling, people are 10x cheaper and not as stupid.

+1, this is so accurate it's not even funny.

Besides, you can make 1,000 gold in about a week if you're reasonably intelligent and you have some starting capital to work with.

What's the fun of being the top dog in GW? SO WHAT if you have 6million ectos? In the end, they are all digitized graphics, no pratical value. They can't be exchanged to avoid that foreclosure or that 1million debt, now can they? The fun I think is to play the game with the wish of wanting that one item, otherwise you'd be wondering why are you even play gw. Since everything gets old after a few month of repitition.

As for people offering 6000e for a mini, well it's really sad that GW is the only place for them to boast and show-off.

The game in itself is just game. One cannot deny this. Then again it is something more. It allows for human interaction, the flow of thought and ideas and sometimes even more.

It is not illogical that the systematic interaction of how one deals with individuals in their life cannot extend to this medium. That is what it is, in logic, a medium, a constant, defined in itself and by those who indulge in it. It is an extension of reality but defined by different rules.

I find it amusing that you choose to define those who would consider GW as a possible extension of reality as those unaware of it. Rather, it is those who treat it as such who deserve the outmost respect. You will often find situations in the game that often pertain to everyday life. You will apply the same logical constructs to these situations as you would in real life. People are people, in game or right next to do. They define reality, the medium used to allow communication is rather redundant. Only fools take advantage of anonymity, it is meaningless to me. Words have power only fools would ignore and lo and behold it is them who use them without merit.

Now back on topic.

I've always liked vending. When I first started playing GW, the economy fascinated me and I pursued what it had to offer. The human element and the logical constructs that one could apply to it really kept me enthralled.

I don't farm, it does not appeal to me and it never will. I find that it is a boring and tedious way to earn anything.

Mind you, I am not that rich. I just enjoy casual vending these days, try to make money here and there.

Many of you refer to money as not being a critical aspect of the game. I will challenge you on this argument. It really lies in how one defines GW at its very core. I believe that which defines GW are its items, this becomes overwhelming true once you have been there an done that. I am not saying that the challenges that the game offers are meaningless but one must admit that these challenges only sate a certain amount of your hunger for so long.

But of course, every MMORPG needs an economy as its core. It's just because everyone(i'm assuming) got so tired of the 6000e for a mini or you have 6000k and that's not rich crap. (Which, in a twist, boils down to some people's wish to be as rich as these they're accusing)

You see, having a HUGE number of ecto or gold or whatever DOES have a benefit. When you're finally tired of the game, and feel like quitting, you can sell it all to a Gold Farming company, and get a whole heap of cash irl. Sure, it's against the rules, but really...if your account gets banned, you still get paid. Win/win situation.

To the OP:

I know that some of these uber rich "players" havent been playing GW for months. They spend their time in Spamadan or elsewhere making business like in RL: they buy & they sell. Check the "Pet Price" thread, it makes me laugh so much: " Bought X 5k & sold it 7k, bought Y 100k+17e & sold it 100k+23e...& so on...total profit of the day = Z k + µ e "

For your info I have been playing for 39 months & I NEVER NEVER NEVER made any business. WHY??????

I like to play GW & all what I have has been dropped. The only weps I bought.....to the merchant, are the destroyer ones.

Some people buy games only to make business with & they play the minimum to be able to make business.

I find it stupid but $/£/€ rule the whole world....so why not inside games...

Most of the threads here are the result of this race to become richer & richer (nerfs...DoA...UB...UW...FoW...etc)

You didnt notice it ????? LOL

9/5 odds that the next big QQ is the NO lifers/hoarders complaining that they cant take their "fortunes" with them to GW2.

if it takes you a week to make 1000 gold, you are doing something dreadfully wrong. it shouldn't take more than about 10-15 minutes to get 1000 gold.
